Massimiliano Fuksas

Massimiliano Fuksas ( born January 9, 1944 in Rome ) is an Italian architect and designer, humanist, poet and painter.

Life

Massimiliano Fuksas completed his architecture studies in Rome in 1969. In 1967 he opened his first own architecture studio in Rome. His field of activity was initially in Italy, in the 1980s, he shifted the focus to France. In 1989 he founded another studio in Paris, followed in 1993, also in Paris, a second office. Finally, in 1995, opened his third studio Fuksas in Vienna and his fourth studio 1997 in Frankfurt am Main. In the spring of 2008 he opened an office in Shenzhen. He was artistic director of the architecture section at the Biennale in Venice at the end of 2001. Fuksas was a visiting professor at various universities in Europe and the United States, such as at the Art Academy in Stuttgart, the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, at the Institute of Design and Architecture, University of Hannover, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Columbia University in New York. He lives in Paris, Rome and Frankfurt am Main.

Since 1995 he is a member of the advisory council for road design in Berlin and the design committee of the city of Salzburg. For a long time, he based his studies urban planning problems with one, especially those that relate to the suburbs. Since 2000, he writes a weekly column in the magazine L'espresso. In 2002 he was made an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA ), 2003 he is member of the International Academy of Architecture (IAA ) in Sofia.

Works (selection)

One of his more recent works, the 137 m high Vienna Twin Tower is a transparent structure made of glass and steel and was built in Vienna at the Vienna Mountain. Another is the shopping center parking euros in Salzburg.

2005 was opened, designed by Fuksas New Trade Fair on the outskirts of Milan. The exhibition center with 345,000 m2 of exhibition space and 60,000 m2 outdoor areas will also be an exhibition of Expo 2015.

For the major project Palais Quartier in Frankfurt am Main, which was completed in mid-2010, Fuksas designed the mall My Zeil. In October 2013, the conversion of the former building of the Unione Militare from 1901 to the Roman Via del Corso for the fashion company Benetton has ended with the designed by Fuksas glass dome by the new owner H & M.
