Matt Hunwick

Matthew John " Matt" Hunwick ( born May 21, 1985 in Warren, Michigan ) is an American professional ice hockey player. Since November 2010, he plays for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Matt Hunwick began his career as a hockey player in 2001 the crew of the U.S. National Team Development Program, which competes in the North American Hockey League for the promotion of American junior players. As of 2003, the Americans played four years for the ice hockey team of the University of Michigan. During the NHL Entry Draft in 2004, he was selected in the seventh round as a total of 224 players from the Boston Bruins. In the summer of 2007, the defenders in the squad of the Providence Bruins, the Boston farm team of the American Hockey League, was admitted. In the 2007 /08 season he gave both his debut in professional hockey in the AHL, as well as at November 10, 2007 in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins in a home game against the Buffalo Sabres.

In November 2010, he was discharged to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Colby Cohen. After three years as a regular in Colorado he was at the beginning of the season 2013/14 is no longer the NHL squad and instead plays the farm team, the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL.

Internationally

At the World Championships 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki Matt Hunwick was a member of the U.S. national team and won the bronze medal with this.
