2004 NHL Entry Draft

The NHL Entry Draft in 2004, the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League, took place on 26 June 2004 at the RBC Center in Raleigh in the U.S. state of North Carolina instead.

A total of 291 players were taken in nine rounds. The selected players had to be provided by the subsequent lockout of the season 2004/ 05 the following season not yet have the chance show off their skills. The top draft pick Alexander Ovechkin was awarded in the 2005/06 season with the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best rookie. A year later, also reiterated Evgeni Malkin winning the trophy.
