Matt McIlvane

Matthew McIlvane ( born November 2, 1985 in Naperville, Illinois ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who has been working since end of his career as a coach. Since August 2013 he is an assistant coach for the EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League.

Career

McIlvane began his career in 2001 Hockey in the U.S. Junior League North American Hockey League for the Chicago Freeze. There graduated from the center in his first season at first only two games, came in the following season, however, regularly used and was able to achieve 56 points scorer in 53 games. Consequently, the managers of some NHL teams were aware of the left-handed shooters. Finally, during the NHL Entry Draft in 2004, it was the Ottawa Senators who chose him in the eighth round in a total of 251 point. After another season in the United States Hockey League for the Chicago Steel McIlvane got in the summer of 2004, a scholarship at Ohio State University, where he played from then on in the University League Central Collegiate Hockey Association. At the end of the season 2007 /08 of 1.75 m wide striker joined for four games in the American Hockey League with the Binghamton Senators, the farm team of the Ottawa Senators.

In the summer of 2008, McIlvane decided a move to Europe and did some test games for the Polar Bears Berlin. In these games, he convinced the management of polar bears, so that he stood for the Polar Bears in the season 2008 /09 on the ice. After his contract was not renewed in Berlin, McIlvane returned to North America where he was active for the Bloomington PrairieThunder between 2009 and 2011. After a few games in the 2011/12 season he finished his career due to injury and was head coach at the Danville Dashers of the Federal Hockey League.

Since August 2013 McIlvane is an assistant coach for the EC Red Bull Salzburg.
