Lauri Tukonen

Lauri Tukonen ( born September 1, 1986 in Hyvinkää ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since 2008 Lukko Rauma in the SM- liiga under contract. His older brother Olli -Kristian is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Lauri Tukonen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Ahmat Hyvinkää, for the first team he in the Mestis, the Finnish second division, completed from 2001 to 2003 a total of 36 games. Subsequently, the winger moved during the season 2002/ 03 in the junior section of the Espoo Blues. For their professional team, he was from 2003 to 2005 in the SM- liiga regularly on the ice and spent in the 2003/04 season also as Players out on loan six games for the U20 national team in the Mestis.

From 2005 to 2008 played Tukonen for the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League, their partners Los Angeles Kings had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 in the first round as a whole eleventh player. For Los Angeles itself, he played between 2006 and 2008 five games in the National Hockey League, where he remained point and impunity. For the season 2008/ 09, the right-handed shooter returned to his Finnish homeland. After he started the season in the SM- liiga participants Ilves Tampere, he moved to the middle of the season to the league rivals Lukko Rauma, for which he has since standing on the ice.

Internationally

For Tukonen Finland took part in the junior level at the U18 Junior World Championship 2004, where he was both top scorer and best preparers. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the U20 World Junior Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006. 2004 and 2006 he won with his team bronze medals at the U20 World Cup, where he was also elected to the All-Star team in 2006.
