Matthew Nielsen

Matthew Peter Nielsen, short Matt Nielsen, ( born February 3, 1978 in Penrith, Sydney ) is an Australian basketball player. The 2.09m power forward is great since 2011 when BK Khimki under contract and is also a longtime member of the Australian national team, with whom he participated at the Olympic Games in 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Career

From 1996 to 2004, Nielsen was active for the Sydney Kings in the National Basketball League, in 2003 and 2004 he won the championship with the Kings. He then moved to Europe, where he has since been active. After a year at PAOK Thessaloniki Nielsen Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius was committed by. With this club he twice won the Baltic Basketball League and reached the final of the 2007 ULEB Cup. The end of 2008 the club ran into financial difficulties, prompting Nielsen wrote in November of the year at the Spanish club Valencia Basket Club. In 2010 he won the Eurocup with Valencia and was named MVP of the Final Four. Shortly thereafter, Nielsen moved to Greece Olympiakos Piraeus. Since 2011, Nielsen is for the Russian BK Khimki under contract. With this club he won the 2011 VTB United League, and 2012 for the second time the Eurocup.
