Matthias Kyburz

Matthias Kyburz (born 5 March 1990) is a Swiss orienteers.

Kyburz won in Italy in 2009, the Junior World Championships in the sprint. In 2011 he caused a stir when he won the World Cup opener in Porvoo. Over the World Cup season, he also came twice to a third place. In the overall classification, he finished fourth behind Daniel Hubmann, Matthias Merz and Thierry Gueorgiou. At the 2011 World Championships in France Kyburz also won his sprint qualifying, but in the final he came only on the 20th Place. At the European Championships 2012 Kyburz came in sixth in the sprint and sprinted for the team Switzerland 2 in the relay on the final route to gold. In the World Orienteering Championships 2012 in Lausanne won Matthias Kyburz ahead of his two teammates Matthias Merz and Matthias Müller Goldmedalille in the sprint. The World Games 2013 in Colombia Kyburz became the most successful orienteer these Games. In the sprint, narrowly beat the Russians Andrey Khramov and the Swede Jerker Lysell. In the middle distance he won against his Swiss teammate Daniel Hubmann and the Lithuanians Vilius Aleliūnas. At the conclusion to Kyburz won his third gold medal, which he clearly (along with Daniel Hubmann, Sara Lüscher and Judith Wyder ) won the mixed relay ahead of the teams from Denmark and Austria.
