Mattia Gavazzi

Mattia Gavazzi ( born June 14, 1983 in Iseo ) is an Italian racing cyclist.

Career

Mattia Gavazzi won the 2004 tenth stage of the Giro baby and the one-day race Trofeo Papa ' Cervi and the Circuito del Porto- Trofeo Arvedi. In 2006, he turned professional with Team LPR, where he was second in the stage of Slovenia Tour once. In the middle of the season, he joined the Polish Continental Team Amore & Vita- McDonald's. Here he was third on the third section on Course de la Solidarité Olympique. Since 2007, Gavazzi driving for the Italian team Kio Ene- Tonazzi - DMT. In his first year there he won two stages in the Istrian Spring Trophy, three sections of the Normandy tour as well as a stage of the Vuelta a Navarra. Even with better occupied tours of the Sprinter could draw attention to himself, he was second in the stage once Brixia Tour and at the Settimana Lombarda Ciclistica he was third once and was beaten only Ivan Quaranta and Danilo Napolitano.

Doping

In 2004, Gavazzi tested positive at the Trofeo Papá di Cervi Gattatico on cocaine, locked 14 months, and he had to complete a rehab program. In April 2010, Gavazzi was again provisionally suspended by the Italian Cycling Federation for cocaine abuse and initially blocked as a repeat offender for six years. In March 2012, this block was reduced to 30 months because Gavazzi had cooperated with the National Doping Agency of the Italian National Olympic Committee ( CONI ).

Family

Mattia Gavazzi is the son of former professional cyclists Italian Pierino Gavazzi. His older brother Nicola was a professional cyclist until 2004, but could only celebrate a victory which he imports on a stage of the Regio Tour 2003 in his career. With Francesco Gavazzi he is not related.
