Work

Maurice Boitel created mainly landscape paintings. Topics include France, Italy, Cadaqués ( Spain), Peniche (Portugal ) and Holland. The further development of the painter is inevitably continued throughout his life:

Until 1946, the year of his marriage, his painting is expressive, very down to earth; then, from 1946 to 1952, it is very colorful, especially the images in Algeria.

From 1952 to 1965 he painted very personal images: in his landscapes, which are very constructed, the objects with black contours are outlined with some leveled Aplats. During this period he first painted at Cap Griz Nez sober, dark images, which show the storms of this area, the fishing boats on the beach, the ruins of war. He also paints people: clowns, poultry farmers, fishermen or portraits.

Then, from 1958 to 1965, he painted every summer in Cadaqués (Spain). It is always the same style with solid construction, but where the light and the vivid colors of the Mediterranean appear (landscapes, seascapes, portraits, crowds on the beach).

In 1965 his works remain structured, it can but the outlines disappear: turns more Watercolor painting, above all, in Nice, Rome, Venice and Florence. Each year, he travels to the Cap Gris Nez, after Audresselles or in the area Limousin, after Ambazac. The Paris area where he normally lives has, it also delivered numerous motifs ( Montmartre, the forest of Vincennes, the islands of the Seine and Marne, Guermantes and Conches- sur- Gondoire ).

Since 1980, showed a tendency to portray an idealized reality.

Boitels works were acquired, among others, by the French state and the city of Paris, and of lovers in Germany, England, the United States, Brazil, Iran, Japan, Venezuela, Italy, Spain and Mexico.
