Mauricie
Mauricie is an administrative region (French région administrative ) south of the Canadian province of Quebec.
It is further into three regional county municipalities ( municipalites Clarisse de comté ) and 49 municipalities, Reserves, and unincorporated areas divided. Seat of administration in Trois -Rivières.
The population is 262 340 (2011), the land area of 35,451.7 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 7.4 inhabitants per km ². 98.8 % of residents speak French and 0.2 % English as the main language.
In the north Mauricie borders the region of Nord- du- Québec, to the northeast Saguenay -Lac -Saint- Jean, to the east by Capitale - Nationale, on the south by the Centre- du- Québec, on the west by Lanaudière and Laurentides, on the northwest by Outaouais and Abitibi- Témiscamingue.
Named the region is named after the river Saint- Maurice.
