Maxïmo Park

Maxïmo Park [ mɑksi: moʊ pɑ: k] is a British indie rock band. It was founded in the northern English city of Newcastle in 2003.

Band History

Career start

The band's name is derived from the Máximo Gómez Park, a meeting place of Cuban exiles in Little Havana, Miami, Florida. The singer Paul Smith came as the last member to after the former girlfriend of the drummer, Tom English, had seen him when he was playing in a bar with his instrumental band Me & the Twins, Stevie Wonder's Superstition.

Maxïmo Park published in March 2004, their first 7 "single on vinyl with two self-recorded songs ( graffiti and going missing ). According to some performances was Steve Beckett of Warp Records label on the group attentive and took them under contract.

A Certain Trigger

After the 2004 release debut single The Coast Is Always Changing appeared in February 2005, the second single apply some pressure and could be placed immediately in the top 20 singles on the British charts. Even before the release of their album, they were booked for the Rock at the Ring Festival. Their debut album A Certain Trigger was also released in 2005 and was praised effusively by the critics. From album three more songs were released as singles during the year, apply some pressure was re-released in October 2005.

Our Earthly Pleasures

On 30 March 2007, the second album Our Earthly Pleasures was released. The first single from this album was Our Velocity and already appeared on March 16. Later Books from Boxes and Girls Who Play Guitars were still coupled. Previously, nor was Missing Songs, a collection of B-sides and demos released.

Quicken the Heart

In spring 2009, Maxïmo Park were for some club concerts in Germany and first presented new songs from their next album. The third album was released on 8 May 2009 and is named Quicken the Heart. The album was also released in a special edition with an accompanying concert DVD. In the first week Quicken the Heart reached # 13 on the German album charts. Already on May 1st appeared from the first single The Kids Are Sick Again and debuted at # 72 in the German single charts.

In response to the publication Maxïmo Park have let her remix album Quicken the Heart of artists from the region around their hometown of Newcastle. That Quicken the Heart - Remixed album called was released on the band's website on 2 July 2010 as a free download.

The National Health

In February 2011, the band announced that they are currently working on new studio recordings. Then the album The National Health was released on June 8, 2012.

Too Much Information

On November 18, 2013, the band announced the release of the fifth album Too Much Information and dated them on 3 February 2014 or 31 January 2014 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On the same day the band released the first single from the new album called Brain Cells and offered it for free download on its website, on December 9, 2013 followed by the video premiere the second single Leave This Iceland, on 23 January 2014, the Lyric Video for the single, Lydia, the Ink Will Never Dry. Furthermore, the band announced a tour that, except Europe, Asia and even some festivals such as Rock am Ring 2014 includes. The album reached the seventh place, the highest placing by Quicken the Heart in the UK album charts.
