Með sud í eyrum við spilum endalaust is the fifth regular studio album by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós and was released in June 2008. In German the album title means something like "With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly ".
As the pieces Singles Gobbledigook were Inni mér syngur vitleysingur and Við spilum coupled endalaust. Gobbledigook was already available before the release of the album as a free download; in the whole album you could listen to the band's homepage. With the song All Alright is the first time in the history of the band for a song in English.
Style and texts
Overall, the music is less spherical than its predecessors on this album, a very percussive style and a dominant bass often dominate the majority of the songs. Godan daginn and Straumnes but remember a distant resemblance to the style that Takk ... and ( ) coined.
Furthermore, additional, new elements are added, such as an acoustic guitar as a leading instrument (for example Illgresi ) or a common use of the piano. The most striking stylistic device of Sigur Rós, the played with a cello bow electric guitar comes, almost no longer used.
The texts, all of which were written by Jón Þór Birgisson, continue the trend, less of obscurity and ambiguity - which mainly affects the texts on the Ágætis byrjun - as to be characterized by a relative simplicity and catchiness. In addition, the invented language Vonlenska, with the exception of festival which is sung entirely in that language, integrated into the songs with other Icelandic texts. Again, this is in contrast to the earlier albums, as some songs (on () all) were sung entirely in Vonlenska.
Reviews
Of the critics, the album was good, but for the most part worse than previous releases the band recorded. So was, for example Matthias Manthe of laut.de three out of five and wrote: " indecision, is the crux of this plate: your copyright dare only the small step into an aesthetic emancipation. " Rolling Stone and The English Allmusic.com gave the album four of five points. The Baby Blue sides praised the consistent continuation of positive mood, the Sigur Ros Takk had been developed. ...
