Měcholupy (Louny District)

Mecholupy ( German Michelob ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south of Žatec and belongs to Okres Louny.

Geography

Mecholupy is located at the northwestern foot of Džbán mountain country on the Blšanka ( Goldbach ). North-east rises the Chlum (289 m), in the southeastern Holý vrch ( 382 m ) and the Na slatine west (321 m). To the place are little bunker lines of the Czechoslovak Walls. By Mecholupy leads the railway line Praha- Chomutov.

Neighboring towns are Milošice in the north, Holedeček, Holedeč and Bukovina in the northeast, Tasov and Lhota in the east, Sádek the southeast, Želeč, Malá Cernoc, Soběchleby and Sirem in the south, Železná and Syrovice the southwest, Milčeves in the west and Radíčeves in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1295 as the seat of Hrdibor of Mecholupy. The Lords of Mecholupy kept the goods until the mid- 14th century. In 1332 they belonged to the Vyšehrad canons January Olbramovec. The Parish Church of St.. Lawrence is detectable since 1366. Other owners included the Sekerka of Sedčice that Mecholupy acquired to the beginning of the 16th century. During this time the festivals originated. After the Battle of White Mountain Sekerka Dietrich was sentenced to the loss of half his possessions. 1624 Johann Christoph bought by the pair consisting of six villages Mecholupy rule of the Bohemian chamber. Karl von couple had rebuilt the fortress into a castle. 1690 bought by Jaroslav Vršovec the rule. The following owners were pink from Kolowrat Libštejnský and Helena Princess Lobkowicz. 1750, the old church was replaced by a baroque building. Later the castle along the Goldbach was an English landscape park with greenhouse. In 1827 there were in Michelob a newly built brewery, a distillery, mill, sawmill, parish school and synagogue.

After the abolition of patrimonial Michelob / Mecholupy formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Saaz. 1860 acquired the brewery entrepreneur Anton Dreher, the castle Michelob with the associated goods and the stately brewery of Erwin von Neipperg. On February 4, 1871, the route from Prague to Chomutov was inaugurated by the Buštěhrad Railway. In the night from 25 to May 26, 1872 devastated after cloudbursts a nightly flash flood that Goldbachtal. Here, five people died. In addition, most of the castle park was devastated and ruined the brewery.

Anton Dreher Jr. built a new brewery opposite the castle in 1872. The three-winged building powerful surpassed its three floors, the castle considerably in size and height. At the same time he bought the goods in Liboritz. The mill was repaired. On June 19, 1875 Michelob was raised to market and received a coat of arms.

At the end of the 19th century the family Dreher had a second floor to increase the lock and pay off the old tower. In 1900 Michelob had 1200 inhabitants, most of whom were members of the German minority. 1905 began the two-track railway operating between Michelob and Trnowan. In 1924 Michelob 1026 inhabitants, of whom 177 were Czechs. 1927 presented the Michelob brewery for becoming a production. In 1930, the market Michelob had 1061 inhabitants. After the Munich Agreement in 1938, the site added to the German Reich and belonged until 1945 to the district Saaz. The Czech population left because of the onset of disadvantages Michelob and moved across the nearby frontier into Czechoslovakia. 1939 lived 921 people in Michelob. After the end of World War II Mecholupy came back to Czechoslovakia and the German population was expelled. After 1948 Mecholupy lost its status as a market town and has since become a village. With the beginning of 1961 was the annexation of Milošice, at the same time the place was assigned to the Okres Louny. 1981 were still Velka Cernoc, Želeč, Holedeč ( with Holedeček, Stránky and Veletice ) Deštnice ( with Sádek ) and Libořice added ( with Železná ). The latter three places dissolved in 1990 go again. The Baroque Church of Sts. Lawrence was demolished in the 1980s. The district Mecholupy had in 2001 493 inhabitants, in Velka Cernoc there were 261, 238 and in Želeč in Milošice 41

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Mecholupy Mecholupy ( Michelob ), Milošice ( Miloschitz ), Velka Cernoc ( United Tschernitz ) and Želeč ( Seltsch ), at the same time also form Katastralbezirke.

Attractions

  • Castle Mecholupy, the early Baroque building with a chapel was built before 1690 for Charles of couple. From 1860 to the expropriation in 1948 it belonged to the Turner family. Today it serves as a Speech primary school of Ústí nad Labem Region.
