Melanie Oudin

Melanie Oudin ( born September 23, 1991 Marietta, Georgia) is an American tennis player.

Personal

Oudin is of French descent and has a twin sister, Katherine. At the age of seven, she was brought up by her grandmother in the tennis game. From seventh grade on, she was taught at home, so they had more time for training. Their model is Justine Henin, from the Oudin once said: " To win, you do not have to be big. "

Career

2007

Oudin won consecutively on the ITF Junior Tour including the " Eddie Herr International Junior" Tennis Championships 27 games and 4 tournaments. She was about to win the fifth tournament, but lost the singles final of the Under -18s at the Orange Bowl against Michelle Larcher de Brito of Portugal.

2008

In February 2008, she joined the WTA Tour. In April, she won the Easter Bowl and the USTA International Spring Championships. For the tournament in Miami, she received a wild card, she was defeated in round one Tathiana Garbin in three sets.

In the first round she defeated again with 4:6, 6:4, 6:2 Sybille Bammer and met in the second round to Yaroslava Shvedova, she defeated 3:6, 6:2, 6:4. With a 6:78 -, 7:5 -, 6:2 victory against the seeded Jelena Janković 6 they moved into the second round, which she lost 4:6, 5:7 against Agnieszka Radwańska.

At the U.S. Open, she had a run and initially defeated Elena Dementieva, then number 4 in the world, with 5:7, 6:4, 6:3, and then the former world number one Maria Sharapova with 3:6, 6:4 and 7: 5 In the second round she turned the third Russian woman, Nadia Petrova, of also in three sets. 2010 - 2012

A surprise success she succeeded in 2011 when she won the mixed title of the U.S. Open with Jack Sock. It was her first title at a Grand Slam tournament.

In 2012 she won her first WTA Birmingham last single title. As an unseeded player, she defeated Janković in the final this time clearly in two sentences.
