Melezzo Orientale

The Melezza is a 40 km long river, which rises north of Santa Maria Maggiore in the Italian Vigezzo as Melezzo Orientale (Eastern Melezzo ). In Santa Maria Maggiore, the river turns east and flows shortly thereafter in Switzerland, where he is to Melezza through which the Cento Valli flows in the Canton of Ticino and opens at Ponte Brolla in the Maggia.

In Palagnedra the Melezza to Lago di Palagnedra is dammed. The dam was completed in 1952 and is 72 m high. Near Intragna the Isorno and Melezza flow together.
