Melt! Festival

The Melt ( own spelling Melt -! Schmitz ) is a music festival that was first held in 1997. Since 1999 the festival at Graefenhainichen takes place in the " City of Steel " Ferropolis. In 2003, the festival due to restrained sponsors behavior and adverse weather conditions had to pause. After an engagement of the magazine intro, the whole took over the festival after a while, the Melt returned in 2004 with a revised concept back. The Melt Festival combines electronic music and rock sound.

History

Scene of the first Melt Festival of Bernsteinsee Velten was in Brandenburg, the second time the festival on the airfield Larz was aligned. In 1999, the melt was first held on the Ferropolis terrain at Graefenhainichen, where a guest to this day once a year. The choice of the venue makes it a part of the special feature of the Melt: Live acts play in the open air museum for lignite mining, the " ferro- Polis " in Graefenhainichen, between giant excavators. In the center of " Ferropolis " opens an arena that is reminiscent of a Roman amphitheater. Here were located until 2007, the two main stages of the melt, framed by imposing relics from the lignite mine: five excavators and spreaders, 40 meters high and up to 130 meters long, line the festival grounds. Since 2008, the amphitheater of the large open- air stage is reserved. The second (covered) big stage ( Gemini Stage) has since been held outside. In addition to other platforms at different locations on the site of the Big Wheel Stage is a solid institution. This is an open-air stage for DJs and live electronic acts, which is located in, or under one of the big bucket wheel excavator. Predominant here is club or rave atmosphere.

In addition to above-mentioned three stages consist of 2008 Melt! Club with a focus on Independent live bands, and the Red Bull Music Academy floor. There is also the Sleepless Floor Between the actual festival grounds and the campground. Here the After Hour will be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday from 07:00 in the morning clock.

Previous headliners at the Melt Festival were: Underworld, Björk, The Streets, Pet Shop Boys, Bloc Party, Roisin Murphy, Bright Eyes vs. The Faint, Royksopp, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, The Notwist, Tortoise, Mouse on Mars, Zoot Woman, Peaches, Scissor Sisters, Mando Diao, Miss Kittin, Ellen Allien, Chicks On Speed ​​, Maxïmo Park, LTJ Bukem, Fischerspooner, Phoenix, Deichkind Tocotronic and GusGus.

2008 Melt! Festival was first held over a full three days instead ( Friday to Sunday). Headliners were, inter alia, Bjork, Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip. With a new record attendance of over 20,000 visitors, the festival reached its capacity limit.

In 2009, the Festival took place from 19 July of 17. The headliners were Oasis, Bloc Party and Aphex Twin with Florian Hecker. For the first time in its 12 - year history, the festival was sold out. Both in 2008 and 2009, a new internationalism of the festival was observed. Especially the music enthusiast from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Scandinavia are now in large numbers at the Melt! to find. It helps that it has been offering since 2010, renting for 1-8 users so that the luggage overhead remains low for flown.

Both in 2010 and 2011 and 2012 the festival was sold out again. Headliners in 2011 were, among others, Hurts, Pulp, Paul Kalkbrenner, Robyn and Boys Noize.

2012 acted M83, Gossip, Whitest Boy Alive, Justice, Two Door Cinema Club, Modeselektor, Bloc Party, Caribou and The Bloody Beetroots to headline.

2013 included The Knife, Trentemøller, Woodkid and Babyshambles to the headliners of the melt.
