Metronomy

Metronomy is a British band whose music of style indietronics and is also attributable to the electro-pop in recent times. It was founded in 1999 by Joseph Mount, which acts as a songwriter for the group, sings, and plays keyboards and guitar. Other band members are currently Oscar Cash (keyboards, melodica, saxophone), Gbenga Adelekan (bass) and Anna Prior ( drums).

In addition to the three albums with original titles Joseph Mount has also published numerous remixes of other artists under the name Metronomy.

History

Metronomy was founded in 1999 by Joseph Mount (* 1982 ) in Totnes. The then 16- year-old started (for example, Autechre and LFO) to write to the first song under the influence of experimental and electronic music. After a move to Brighton, he was taken from the label Holiphonic under contract. 2006 saw the debut album from Metronomy Pip Paine ( Pay The $ 5000 You Owe ) containing mainly instrumentals.

After the song You Could Easily Have Me was quite often hung up by DJs and Metronomy increasingly more followers found in the UK, Joseph Mount teamed up with his schoolmates cash and Stebbing and it came to the first live performances of the group. But it was published in this period mainly through remixes that mount in large numbers, in part as background music animated video clips known. So he mixed for example, songs by Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lykke Li, Gorillaz and Britney Spears new.

After contract difficulties Metronomy switched to the label Because Music. There appeared in 2008, the second album of the group, Nights Out, which is characterized by more vocal pieces that are attributable to the electro-pop especially. It reached the top 106 in the UK charts and contributed significantly to the national awareness of the group.

In May 2009, Stebbing left Metronomy officially to advance his own band, Your Twenties, the group remained on friendly terms, and later joined also occasionally with them. For Anna Prior and Gbenga Adelekan came as new band members to Metronomy.

In April 2011, the hitherto most commercially successful album by Metronomy, The English Riviera, published. It reached # 28 in the UK charts and reached for a short time in the Swiss charts. Internationally, the group is known beyond, especially in France, where The English Riviera made ​​it to the 22th place and was over a year in the Top 150. The following year, The English Riviera Unreleased Remixes came out as MP3, is a selection of previously unreleased remixes of the tracks on the album. 2012 published Metronomy also the compilation Late Night Tales mix albums in the series of the same independent labels. The album was released on LP and CD.

In March 2014, the album Love Letters was published. A first song out of it, I'm Aquarius, came out as an MP3 on 11 November 2013.
