Michael Anthony (musician)

Michael Anthony ( born June 20, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois; actually Michael Anthony Sobolewski ) is an American musician. He is the bassist for the supergroup Chickenfoot, which in 2009 released her debut album. Anthony was already known as a member of the U.S. early hard rock band Van Halen, to which he belonged from 1974 to 2005.

Life

Michael Anthony was born in 1954 as the second of five children in Chicago. At the age of seven, he learned to play the trumpet. When the family moved to Arcadia in California, he attended from 1967 to 1969, Dana Junior High School his new hometown, where he played in the marching band at school. As a teenager he was initially interested in the guitar, but later decided for the bass as his future instrument.

From 1969 on, he attended high school in Arcadia. He belonged to several bands ( " Poverty 's Children", "Black Opal", "Balls" and " Snake" ). "Snake" played among other things as the opening act at a concert of the band " Mammoth " which ' was held at the Pasadena High School in Pasadena. " Mammoth " was at this time from Eddie (guitar, vocals ) and Alex Van Halen (drums ) and bassist Mark Stone.

After graduating from high school, Michael Anthony attended Pasadena City College where he made his degree in music. When Mark Stone " Mammoth " was forced to leave in 1974, Anthony took the offer to replace him. The band renamed themselves a little later into " Van Halen ".

Van Halen

Anthony was one of the band from 1974 to 2005 to continuously and experienced both David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone as lead singer of the group. Also, when Van Halen had boast any new publications from 1999 to 2003, he remained a member of the group, even if repeated rumors surfaced that he had been fired. His latest release with Van Halen Van Halen III was; to the recording of the new titles of Best-of- Album Best of Both Worlds 2004 he was no longer involved, but denied nor any connected tour with the group. Since 2006, Wolfgang Van Halen bassist of the band of his father.

Chickenfoot

Since 2008 Member of Anthony Chickenfoot. Even before the founding of the band, who also belong to Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith - beside him, Anthony was repeated at performances of Hagar and his band, "The depth charges " played. Usually he was one each in the second half of a concert with the musicians, who initiated this part of the concert with Van Halen songs.

With Chickenfoot Anthony has released two albums ( Chickenfoot " Chickenfoot III " ), as well as a live DVD. The debut album was number 4 in the U.S., number 17 in Germany and number 23 in the UK.

Anthony is married since 1981 and has two children.
