Michael Hayböck

Michael Hayböck (* 5 March 1991 in Linz) is an Austrian ski jumper.

Career

Hayböck starts for the club UVB Hinzenbach. In 2000 he began the ski jumping. In the seasons 2002/ 03 and 2003/ 04 he won the Landescup - Appreciation, 2003/ 04 and also achieved the 2nd place in the Austriacup. At the state championships in 2004 in Bischofshofen, he reached in the Nordic combined and ski jumping each 2nd place. The overall ranking of the FIS -student Cup 2005 he was able to win with the team, the individual he came on the 4th Place. In 2006 he was admitted to the B-team. He started for the first time in FIS races in the adult area. On 20 September 2008, he competed in ski jumping Continental Cup in Villach for the first time. At the Junior World Championship 2009 in Štrbské Pleso, he won the team gold and individual was in seventh. In August 2009, he jumped for the first time in the Summer Grand Prix. In Hakuba he reached the 12th place in two competitions. He won a total of 44 points and therefore 40th place in the overall standings.

In the Four Hills Tournament 2009/10 Hayböck launched in Innsbruck as part of the national group was able to qualify for jumping and reaching with a strong jump in the first round and the finals. In Bischofshofen he went after even at the start, but retired in the first round of the duel against Pascal Bodmer. At the Junior World Cup 2010 in Germany Hinterzarten he was able to secure in the individual event and a team of the normal hill gold medals. At the World Cup competition in Willingen ( Upland), he reached the 3rd place with the Austrian team. His best individual placement within the framework of the World Cup is a 6th place also in Willingen 2010.

In the Four Hills Tournament 2010/11 he jumped with his older brother Stefan for the first time together in the World Cup.

On January 16, 2014, he reached while jumping in Wisła the first podium of his career and was third.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, he reached in the team competition with Thomas Morgenstern, Gregor Schlierenzauer and Thomas Diethart the 2nd place and on the normal hill in fifth place.

Personal

Hayböck attended from 2005 Skigymnasium Stams and completed in 2010 the final exam with distinction. Since July 2010 he has been the Army athletes.
