Michele Godena

Michele Godena (* 30 June 1967 in Valdobbiadene, Province of Treviso ) is an Italian chess player.

Life

The chess games learned Michele Godena at the age of five years by his father. The resident in Treviso professional chess player International Master in 1988 and carries since 1996 the Grand Master title.

Holdings and individual tournaments

Five times he won the Italian Individual Championship ( 1992/93, 1994, 1995, 2005 and 2006 ), he finished second (1990, 1998 and 2009) three times. In the championship in 2006 in Cremona, he was with the then 14 -year-old Fabiano Caruana on par with 8 points from 11 games, but won in a rapid chess and lightning decision. In April 2007 he was winner of the first split Casino Opens in Lugano. The 2nd International Chess Open in Lugano he won in March 2008 on points before Namiq Quliyev. In August 2008 he won the 11th Novotel Open in Genoa.

National and club teams

When Mitropa Cup 1982 in Bourgoin- Jallieu he had a Elo performance of 2720 on the third board; total he participated in ten Mitropa Cup 1982-2013. Between 1988 and 2012 Godena took 13 times for Italy in chess Olympiads, mostly on board one of his team. He played to 1992-2013 in ten European Team Championships.

For chess teams he plays in French (for the Association Cannes Echecs ), Swiss (until the 2003 season for the chess club Lucerne and since then, for Mendrisio ) and Italian (formerly on top board of the ASA Penne then on the second board and top board Vimar Scacchi Marostica and finally on the sixth board of Risarcimento Padua ) 1st League. In 2007 he was with Swiss Mendrisio and 2012 Italian with Padua team champion. Since 2012, he also plays in the Israeli top flight.
