Michele Padovano ( born August 28, 1966 in Turin ) is a retired Italian footballer.

During his active career he was a striker and won with Juventus among others, in 1996 the Champions League.

After his playing career, he worked for the Italian fifth-tier U.S. Alessandria Calcio as sports director, but was released in May 2006 on suspicion of drug trafficking. On December 12, 2011, he was sentenced in Turin to a prison term of 8 years and 8 months for drug trafficking.

Career

In the club

Michele Padovano began his professional career 1985/86 in Serie C2 in Asti TSC. In October 1986 he moved to Cosenza Calcio, where he played for four years. With the Calabrian team he rose to the B series. In the summer of 1990, Padovano moved to Pisa Calcio, where he made his debut in Serie A. He then played in Italy's top flight for SSC Napoli, Genoa CFC and AC Reggiana.

The highlight of his career saw Michele Padovano then placed between 1995 and 1997. He played for Juventus and won with the team coach Marcello Lippi six titles, including the Scudetto and the Champions League. In the Champions League final against Ajax Amsterdam, he converted a penalty kick in the penalty shootout.

In the summer of 1997, Padovano was then sold to the English first division club of Juve Crystal Palace, where he was rarely used. Therefore, he moved in 1998 to the French Ligue 1 for FC Metz. 2000/ 01 he was still active for Como Calcio in Serie A, at the end of the season ended Padovano his active career.

In the National Team

In spring 1997, Michele Padovano of Cesare Maldini was first nominated for the Italian national team. His debut born 29 March 1997 in the 3-0 World Cup qualifying match against Moldova. Just before the next match against Poland, he moved in training a serious knee injury and retired. This left the match against Moldova his only game.
