Mierzyn, Police County

Mierzyn ( German Möhringen ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community Dobra ( Daber ) in the powiat Policki.

Geographical location

Mierzyn located in the eastern Pomerania, about 9 km south-east of the village of Dobra ( Daber ), 16 km southwest of the town of Police ( Pölitz ) and 9 km west of the center of Szczecin.

History

From the 13th century the lords of Möhringen are known. The village was located later at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries in the possession of the Bishop of Pomerania, of which there 1305 of Szczecin citizens Johannes von Brakel took over. 1397 came into the possession of the Charterhouse Möhringen grace of God in Grabow.

A windmill in Möhringen has already been mentioned for the beginning of the 14th century. In 1628 the mill was prince's property and belonged to the Official Old Stettin. In the 18th century the inhabitants of Möhringen Zwangsmahlgäste the mill were.

During the Third Napoleonic War was in 1806 signed the surrender of Stettin in the rectory of Möhringen.

From 1818 to 1939 Möhringen belonged to Randow county in the district of Stettin Pomerania. In 1939 Möhringen was incorporated into the city of Szczecin, in which it remained until 1945.

Möhringen belongs to the part of Pomerania west of the Oder, which was made after the Second World War in 1945 under Polish administration. The village was the Polish name Mierzyn. The German population was expelled and replaced by Polish citizens. In 2008, lived just over 5,000 people in the community Mierzyn.

Church

The population before 1945 in Möhringen was present with a large majority - of the Protestant denomination - in 1925 over 90%. Mähringen was the seat of an evangelical rectory ( the state church). In the parish the parish Möhringen was the community Kreckow.

Traffic

The town is located on the regional road 10 ( Droga Krajowa 10), which at the border crossing left / Lubieszyn ( New Left ) as a continuation of the federal highway 104 ( former National Highway 104, also: Hanseatic Baltic Street ) begins and runs through the center of Szczecin.
