Miki Itō (skier)

Miki Itō (Japanese伊藤 みき, Itō Miki, born July 20, 1987 in Hino, Shiga Prefecture) is a Japanese freestyle skier. She specializes in the moguls and dual moguls mogul disciplines.

Biography

Her debut in the World Cup had Itō on 14 February 2004 in Inawashiro, where she was 24th in the moguls competition. Nearly a year later, she binned in the same place for the first time in the top ten. In the season 2005/ 06 she established herself first in the midfield and scored at the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 the 20th Place. Took a similar course World Cup season 2006/ 07, with a fifth place as best result.

In the 2007 /08 season, Itō was able to increase and binned four times in the top ten. This trend continued during the winter of 2008/ 09, when she went out six top-10 results. Among them was on 20 February 2009, the third place in Voss, its so far the only podium finish in the World Cup. Almost three weeks later, she won the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro the silver medal in dual moguls competition, where she was defeated in the final round her compatriot Aiko Uemura. As fourth in the moguls competition she missed another medal scarce.

Ito went to the World Cup season 2009/10 twice in the top ten and was twelfth at the Olympic Winter Games 2010. In Almaty she won at the Asian Winter Games 2011, the silver medal in the moguls competition and the bronze medal in dual moguls competition. In the World Cup season 2011/12 they scored two podium finishes. The first World Cup victory in the discipline Dual Moguls she succeeded on 24 February 2013 Inawashiro. At the World Cup 2013 in Voss, she won the silver medal in both disciplines.
