Močenok

Močenok (Slovak Sládečkovce August 1951-1991 - 1948-1951 Mučeníky - to 1927 Močonok or Močonek; Motschenok German, Hungarian Mocsonok ) is a municipality in western Slovakia. It is located in Nitrianska pahorkatina ( Nitra - hills ), a part of the Danube 's hill country. Major cities in the area are Nitra ( about 20 km north-east ) and Šaľa ( about 10 km south-west ).

The first written mention was made in 1113 as a villa Missenic. Attractions in the community are a classical castle built in 1850, the parish church of St. Clement ( 1765 ), the Holy Cross Chapel ( 1627 ), the Calvary with a chapel (1852 ) and monastery ( 1897).

The municipality counts next to the main town and the south of the main town lying place Gorazdov. 1975-1990 was the north subsequent neighboring Horná Kráľová part of the community. In 1951, the site of national political reasons, it was renamed in honor of Michal Sládeček, one injured during a strike of agricultural workers on the estate Hrúšťov and died as a result agricultural workers in Sládečkovce, this was reversed in 1991.
