Mohamed Suleiman

Mohamed Suleiman (Arabic: محمد سليمان, DMG Muḥammad Sulaimān; born November 23, 1969) is a former Qatari middle and long distance runners of Somali origin.

He comes from the same clan as the world -class runner Abdi Bile, Abdihakem and Abdirahman Mohammed Farah but started since his youth for Qatar and initially focused on the 1,500 -meter run.

Already at the age of 18, he qualified for the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, where he did not make it past the flow. At the World Athletics Championships 1991, he was ninth.

In 1992 he celebrated his greatest success when he won at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​the bronze medal behind Fermín Cacho (ESP) and Rachid El Basir (MAR ). It was the first Olympic medal for Qatar at all.

At the World Championships in Stuttgart in 1993, he finished fourth at the 1995 World Cup in Gothenburg seventh at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and ninth at the World Championships in 1997 in Athens sixth.

At the end of his career he moved at the Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney for the 5000 -meter run and came on the 14th Place.
