Mondeuse noire

Mondeuse or Mondeuse Noire is a red grape that is grown primarily in the French wine-growing region of Savoy. It is an ancient, indigenous grape. Because of their age Numerous synonyms are known. The Ampelograph Roy Chevrier even suspected that it was in the Mondeuse the Allobrogicae described by Pliny the Elder. This honor can come but also the vine Syrah, or Nebbiolo. There is also a grape variety Mondeuse Blanche, a white grape variety, but showing no mutation of Mondeuse Noire. According to José Vouillamoz but both varieties are in a parent- child relationship.
