To a large tonal richness of the music, make unusual combinations of instruments at: string ensembles, a double bass trio, flute, oboe, English horn, French horn, more brass and woodwind, harp, piano, conch, analog synthesizer, a men's choir as well as a Viennese women's choir, led by singer Jessika Kenney, a specialist in Persian singing and vocal experiments.

Style and content

Monoliths & Dimensions mixed elements of Drone Doom with brass, choirs and other unusual instruments for this genre. Sam Shepherd keeps the album from Earths Hex; or Printing in the Infernal Method affected.

Thom Jurek of Allmusic called the album with its mix of " Drone, rock and black metal " as brilliant. John Doran is in spite of a maximum score of 10 points, the album is "not for everyone". John Shepherd sees the danger, the Monoliths & Dimensions a lot of people " unheard as evidence for their own open-mindedness is on the shelf ." Steven Wilson is mentioned in a "Prog - Special" of the magazine Metal Hammer as " favorite album of prog - range ":

" An amazing hybrid of metal and progressive [ ... ] Sunn O))) [ ... ] have their range supplemented by strings, horns and choirs - what is a profoundly progressive ' gesture. They explore here jazz, classical and chamber music. "
