Monteagudo Municipality

The municipality Monteagudo is a district in the department of Chuquisaca in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Monteagudo is one of two Municipalities of the province of Hernando Siles and comprises the northern area. It is bordered on the northwest by the province Tomina, on the west by the province Azurduy, on the southwest by the province of Nor Cinti and the province of Sud Cinti, to the south by the municipality of Huacareta, and on the east by the province of Luis Calvo.

The municipality extends approximately between 19 ° 28 'and 20 ° 32' south latitude and 63 ° 49 'and 64 ° 20 ' west longitude, its extension from west to east is up to 50 km, from north to south up to 100 km.

The municipality comprises 138 municipalities ( Localidades ), central location of the municipality is the town of Monteagudo with 7,285 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) in the northern part of the county. Other major towns in the municipality are Candua with 1,805 inhabitants and San Juan del Pirai with 625 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the humid Monteagudo, subandinen Chaco of Bolivia on the edge of the south-eastern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central.
