Montpellier Agglomération Handball

History

The club was founded in 1982 under the name Cosmos Montpellier. They carried this name until 1987. Between 1987 and 1989 they played under the name Montpellier La Paillade Sports Club. Only since 1989, the club got its present name. The department plays professional since 2007 under the name provide proof of Handball ( MAHB ). In 1992, Montpellier HB promotion to the highest French feature class in which it is represented to this day. Since then, the club was fourteen times French champion.

In September 2012, the French Justice initiated an investigation against eight players from Montpellier for suspected fraud. The team will have a game in the French league intentionally lost in order to allow relatives of the players high winnings of up to 250,000 euros. As a result of the allegations, the player Luka and Nikola Karabatic have (both to the Pays d' Aix UC HB), Erlend Mamelund ( Haslum HK) and Primoz Prost ( Frisch Auf Göppingen) to leave the club during the current season.
