Moon Landrieu

Maurice Edwin " Moon" Landrieu ( born July 23, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana ) is a former American politician (Democratic Party).

Biography

After attending Jesuit High School in New Orleans, he graduated from 1948 to 1952, he studied business administration at Loyola University, which he finished with a Bachelor in Business Administration ( BBA). He then studied law at his alma mater, where he made his degree in 1954. As a result, he did his military service in the United States Army.

His political career began in 1960 when he was elected as Members of the House of Representatives from Louisiana, where he represented the 12th electoral district until 1966. Subsequently, he was until 1970 a member of the City Council of New Orleans. On 2 May 1970, he was mayor of New Orleans and held that office until May 1, 1978.

On September 24, 1979, he was U.S. President Jimmy Carter as the successor of Patricia Roberts Harris was appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Development ( Secretary of Housing and Urban Development ) appointed to his cabinet, which he held until the end of Carter's term of office on January 20 1981 belonged.

Most recently, he was from 1992 to 2000 Judge at the Court of Appeals of the 4th District of Louisiana.

Moon Landrieu, who has been married since 1954, is the father of nine children, including the U.S. Senator for Louisiana, Mary Landrieu, and the former Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana, Mitch Landrieu, was elected on February 7, 2010 Mayor of New Orleans.
