United States Department of Housing and Urban Development

The Ministry of Public Works of the United States (official United States Department of Housing and Urban Development - HUD) is a ministry of the U.S. federal government. It was founded to design state initiatives for housing and urban development and run. The ministry has greatly reduced its urban aspect in the past and now focuses mainly on residential construction.

The Ministry was established on September 9, 1965, when the President of the United States Housing and Urban Development Act the undersigned. The Ministry participated in the January 13, 1966 as a result of a study on the role of federal government in urban problem solving to work on.

Minister of the HUD (United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development ) has since January 26, 2009 Shaun Donovan.

Tasks

The Ministry currently meets the following tasks:

  • Regulation of the government-backed mortgage companies Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac
  • Support of building the house for low income by the Federal Housing Administration
  • Loans for the construction of health facilities
  • Office of Public and Indian Housing: enables financial assistance for rent for low income
  • Office of Fair Housing and Public Opportunity: monitors the prohibitions on discrimination in housing and tenancy
  • Community Development Block Grants: financial support for urban development
  • Affordable Housing Block Grants: financial support for urban housing
  • Ginnie Mae: credit institution to finance the house construction or buying a home for low-
  • Controls for the prevention of lead poisoning
