Mitch Landrieu

Mitchell Joseph " Mitch " Landrieu ( born August 16, 1960 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American politician. Between 2004 and 2010 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Louisiana; He is mayor of the city of New Orleans since 2010.

Career

Mitch Landrieu is the son of former U.S. Minister of Construction Moon Landrieu and brother of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu. In 1978 he graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans. He then studied political science at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC After studying law at Loyola University in New Orleans and his 1985 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1988 and 2004 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Louisiana. In 1994, he ran unsuccessfully for even the mayor of New Orleans.

Landrieu was elected in 2003 on the side of Kathleen Blanco for Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana. This post he held for a re choice between 2004 and 2010.
