Paul N. Cyr

Paul Narcisse Cyr ( born September 9, 1878 in Jeanerette, Iberia Parish, Louisiana; † August 24, 1946 ) was an American politician. Between 1928 and 1931 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Louisiana.

Career

Paul Cyr graduated from Chamberlain Hunt Academy in Port Gibson, Mississippi, and Louisiana State University. After a subsequent dental degree at the Atlanta Dental College in Georgia and its made ​​in 1900 registration as a dentist, he began to work in Jeanerette in this profession. This he held until 1939. During this time he was also a member of several dental associations. At the same time Cyr also engaged in the banking industry and was one of the founders of the First National Bank of Jeanerette. In this bank, he rose to become Acting President. He also was director of a food company. At times, he also worked as a geologist. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. He was a member of the State Board. For many years he belonged to the school board at the Iberia Parish.

Cyr was elected in 1928 on the side of Huey Long as Vice Governor of Louisiana. This post he held 1928-1934. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After Long in the U.S. Senate had been elected, the discussion broke out about its successor as governor.
