Mueang Nong Khai District

Amphoe Mueang Nong Khai ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง หนองคาย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Nong Khai. The Nong Khai province is located in the northwestern part of Northeast Thailand, Isaan so-called. The capital of the district Mueang Nong Khai Nong Khai is also called.

Location

Neighboring districts ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Phon Phisai the Nong Khai province, Amphoe Phen Udon Thani province, as well as Amphoe Tha Bo Sakhrai and turn from Nong Khai province. In the north, on the opposite bank of the Mekong river is the Laotian province Vientiane (prefecture).

Attractions

  • Wat Phrathat Bang Phuan - Buddhist temple ( Wat ) with an ancient chedi, which had been restored in the 16th century by King Sai Setthathirath I. of the Kingdom of Lan Xang.

Education

In Amphoe Mueang Nong Khai is a by- campus of the University of Khon Kaen.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Nong Khai is divided into 16 communes ( tambon), which further into 181 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Nong Khai ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง หนองคาย ) is also the name of a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district, it encompasses the whole tambon Nai Mueang, Mihai and parts of the tambon Pho Chai, Khun Wan, Hat Kham Nong Kom Ko Mueang and Mi.

There are also four small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Nong Song Hong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนองสองห้อง ) consists of parts of the Tambon Khai Bok Wan,
  • Wiang Khuk ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เวียง คุก ) consists of parts of the tambon same name,
  • Pho Chai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โพธิ์ชัย ) consists of parts of the Tambon Pho Chai,
  • Has Kham ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หาด คำ ) consists of parts of the tambon Hat Kham.

There are also 14 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
