Sangkhom District

Amphoe Sangkhom ( Thai: อำเภอ สังคม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the west of the province of Nong Khai. The Nong Khai province is located in the north of the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan so-called

Geography

Neighbouring districts ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Si Chiang Mai and the Pho Tak in the province of Nong Khai, Amphoe Na Yung Udon Thani province and Amphoe Pak Chom Loei province. To the north on the other bank of the Mekong River is the Lao Vientiane Prefecture.

History

Originally Sangkhom was a tambon of Amphoe Tha Bo, which became part of the newly established Amphoe Si Chiang Mai on August 4, 1958. On March 1, 1966, the sub-district ( King Amphoe ) Sangkhom was established, which was promoted on 16 November 1971 for the Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Sangkhom is divided into five communities ( tambon), which in turn in 36 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Sangkhom ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สังคม ), consisting of parts of the tambon Sangkhom and Kaeng Kai.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
