Municipality of Rače–Fram

Rače - Fram ( German Kranich field Frauheim ) is a municipality in the Lower Styria region in Slovenia.

Location

The municipality is situated approximately 10 km south of Maribor between the Pohorje and the fertile plains of the Drava polje.

Population

In the overall community consisting of 13 villages 6510 people live. In Rače, the center of the village there are 2281 inhabitants. In the second largest settlement Fram it has 791 inhabitants.

History

In the Roman period was from Fram to Ptuj, the then Petovio, a water line in operation. The channel was made ​​of stone and 1.4 m wide, 0.7 m high and buried under the surface and not visible. Also important Roman coins and statues were found in Rače.

From the first time mentioned in 1335 as Vraunhaym Castle in Fram is nothing more to see today except ruins in the forest. 1635 was robbed of rebellious peasants. In the 18th century it was burned down until it then collapsed in the early 19th century final in itself.

In contrast, the castle stands in Rače in full splendor. In the first half of the 16th century it was built. The first deed of ownership is issued in the April 26, 1534. Today, the castle is used by the local government. Also take place in the courtyard concerts and theater.
