Namibian Annual Music Awards

The Namibian Annual Music Awards (usually only Namibian Music Awards; short NAMA) are the most important music award in Namibia. They are awarded annually since 2011 in Windhoek. Excellent be Namibian musicians who have made special for the Namibian music in the previous year.

NAMA is the successor to the 2005-2009 awarded " Sanlam NBC Namibian Music Awards ".

Main sponsors of the music awards are MTC Namibia, NBC, Hyundai Namibia, Namibia Dairies, Castle and the John & Penny Group. Other sponsors include Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, Alexander Forbes, Bank Windhoek, Namibia and Old Mutual Namibia Methealth.

Award

The allocation of NAMA is divided into four stages. From late January to late February of the year award, artists can self- enroll for free in different categories. The end of February appraised by an independent jury with expertise in each category these applications and approves or rejects it. These nominees will be evaluated by the end of March to mid-May by the jury. During the same period, the public can vote via SMS and online.

60 % of the final score is based on the ratings of the jury, 40 % on the voting results of the public.
