NASCAR Speedway Division

The NASCAR Speedway Division was an existing only for a short time racing series of NASCAR.

History

The NASCAR Speedway Division was created in 1952, established by the founder and president of NASCAR, Bill France Sr. to life. Used were single-seater racing car with stock block engines. The aim was to reduce the attraction of other single-seater events and to arouse interest for the NASCAR fans in this type of motor sport. The first NASCAR Speedway Division race took place in 1952 at the Darlington Raceway and was won by Buck Baker, who played the race at the wheel of a Cadillac. In the same year, followed by six more races, one of them on the Martinsville Speedway, which was by Tex Keene, who drove a Mercury won. The winner of the first NASCAR Speedway Division race of all time, Buck Baker, was also the first champion in the history of the race series and he should continue to be the only one, because after the 1952 season, the series has been discontinued.
