Nässjö Municipality

Nässjö is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) and an important railway junction in the Swedish Jönköping County Province and the historical province of Småland. The main town of the municipality is Nässjö.

Geography

The municipality is located as the neighboring communities Eksjö, Sävsjö and Vetlanda in Småländska höglandet, the highlands of Småland, part of the southern Swedish highlands, Sydsvenska höglandet is again. The area is situated high between 200 and 250 meters. The highest point is Tomtabacken with a height of 377 meters. It is located about 20 kilometers from the main town in the southwest of the community.

History

The rural community Nässjö in 1952 merged with the city Nässjö and 1971 extended to the rural communities Norra Sandsjö, Solberga, Forserum and Malmbäck.

In Bodafors is the Emans Ekomuseum which content is concerned with the ecology and history of the river Emån.
