Nelinho

Manoel Rezende de Mattos Cabral, known as Nelinho ( born July 26, 1950 in Rio de Janeiro), is a former Brazilian footballer, who played in his playing days as a right defender.

Career

In his 17-year career that lasted from 1970 to 1987, he played with several well-known Brazilian clubs and has won numerous titles. For the Brazilian national football team he played between April 1974 and June 1980 28 times. He participated in the Soccer World Cup in 1974 partly in Germany and was used there three times. He also took part in the Copa América 1975, where he scored three goals in six games. In this tournament, Brazil failed to Peru in the semifinals.

He also took part in the World Cup in Argentina in 1978 and played there four times. In the game for third place against Italy he scored a remarkable goal when he turned the ball outside the right penalty area with plenty of power and spin to Italy keeper Dino Zoff.

He also took part in the Copa América 1979, where Brazil also failed in the semifinals. Total reach him eight goals for Brazil.
