Nemanja Matić

Nemanja Matic ( Serbian Cyrillic Немања Матић, born August 1, 1988 in Sabac, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian football player who is currently under contract at Chelsea and playing in the Serbian national team. He also owns the Slovak citizenship.

Club career

After playing in various Serbian clubs, 2007, he moved to MFK Kosice in Slovakia. At the beginning of the season 2008/2009 he had a trial with Middlesbrough FC. He could not convince. On 18 August 2009 he signed a contract with FC Chelsea. He goes for 1.5 million pounds to London. In August 2010 he was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Benfica Lisbon

In July 2011, Nemanja Matic moved to Benfica. Nemanja Matic announced on 14 September 2009, his European Cup debut when he was in the starting line-up in the 1-1 draw Benfica in their opening group game in the Champions League against Manchester United. Matic came in this competition, where Benfica was eliminated in the quarterfinals against almost Matics former club and later champions Chelsea to seven inserts. In the league Matic came to 16 inserts, where he scored a goal. On February 21, 2013 Nemanja Matic scored his first European goal after he scored the 2-1 winning goal for Benfica in sixteenth -final second leg of the Europa League against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Chelsea FC

On January 15, 2014 Matic returned to Chelsea. He signed a contract until 30 June 2019.

National

In Serbia, he was a relatively unknown player until 2008. Vladimir Vermezović, then manager of FC Spartak Trnava, drew attention to Matic. So he gave 11 October 2008 his international debut for the Serbian U -21 selection against Denmark. After 3 more games for the U -21, he completed 14 December 2008 his first international match for the Serbian national football team against Poland.

Matic also took part in the U -21 Football Championship in 2009, but was injured in the first game against Italy.
