Nemecká

Nemecká ( German German village on the Gran, Hungarian Garamnémetfalva - to 1902 Németfalva - older even Nemecke ) is a town in central Slovakia. It belongs to Okres Brezno and is thus a part of the Regional Association of Banská Bystrica. It lies in the valley Horehronské podolie at the foot of the Low Tatras and Slovak Ore Mountains and is about 17 km from Brezno and 23 km from Banska Bystrica.

The village was first mentioned in 1281 as Nempti. In January 1945, about 900 people were after the suppression of the Slovak National Uprising murdered and burned in a lime plant. 1959 a monument was erected at this location.

Besides the main town, also belong the villages Dubová and Zámostie to the municipality.
