The political district of Neusiedl am See (ung: Nezsideri Jaras ) is located in the northern part of the Austrian province of Burgenland. Office of the District Commission is in Neusiedl am See.

Geographical Location

The district of Neusiedl am See is Austria's easternmost district on the border with Hungary and Slovakia, and the northernmost district of Burgenland. In the district area is where most part of the Neusiedler See and the Austrian part of the National Park Lake Neusiedl. The district area is drained by the Leitha River, a tributary of the Danube. It forms the north mostly the border of the district.

Expansion of the district

The district measures from north to south about 50 km. It extends from the Slovak border in the north to the south Seewinkel. From west to east, the district extends over about 33 km from the Leitha Mountains on the Parndorfer to the Hungarian border.

Road

Through the district runs from west to east, the East motorway ( A4) from Vienna to Budapest. In the district the connection points Parndorf (40) are Neusiedl am See ( 43), willow / Gols (51) Moenchhof (57 ) and nickel village (64 ) and the border crossing nickel village (65). Starting from the node Bruckneudorf runs to the north of the county the Northeast motorway (A6 ) to Bratislava.
