Neustadtl an der Donau is a town with 2094 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Amstetten in Lower Austria.

Geography

Nove Mesto on the Danube is located in Mostviertel on the plateau of Neustadtler plate, a spur of the Bohemian Massif, which extends across the Danube to the south; only Freyenstein and Hößgang located directly on the Danube in Strudengau. 41.05 percent of the area of the municipality is forested.

The Neustadtler plate has high plateau character and is the southern foothills of the Bohemian granite mass, which was separated from that of the Danube. History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria.

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 2,152 inhabitants. In 1991, the market town of 2,239 inhabitants in 1981 and 2,106 in 1971, 2,117 inhabitants.
