New Order

New Order are an English New Wave band that helped shape the Madchester.

The band performed in the footsteps of Joy Division, whose members had agreed at that time, no longer appear under this name if a member should leave the band. When killed the former front singer Ian Curtis in May 1980, solved the three remaining band members out of respect on its promise and regrouped under the name New Order.

Members

In New Order guitarist Bernard Sumner (formerly Albrecht ) took over the role of the front - singer. The band line-up was completed by Peter Hook ( bass), Stephen Morris ( drums) and Gillian Gilbert (keyboards). As part of the tour first time in 2001, Phil Cunningham (keyboards, guitar) was used to replace since 2004 permanently Gillian Gilbert, who left the band due to a serious illness of her daughter. Since 2011, however, Gilbert will be present again. In the current cast Tom Chapman also takes over the bass part Peter Hook, who left the band in 2007.

History

The first publications of New Order were strongly associated with the music of Joy Division, especially the compositions partly still of Ian Curtis, the late singer came. Later joined New Order the roots of the New Wave of the early 1980s, becoming increasingly relevant in electronic dance music. The New Musical Express wrote that New Order was able to unite "electronic sound formulas with more intelligence and sensitivity " than any other pop-rock bands.

The greatest success of New Order was the release of the maxi single Blue Monday in 1983. This plate, which appeared on the independent label Factory Records, is still the world's best selling vinyl maxi single. However remained, according Factory boss Tony Wilson, the financial success because of the elaborately-designed covers in the form of a floppy disc. Only later black numbers were written with the song through several editions.

Very successful was the 1987 released single True Faith also. The song reached number 4 in the UK and # 7 in the German single charts and has been repeatedly published as a remix.

The band accompanied and supported in the 1980s, the legendary Haçienda Fac 51 club in Manchester, which became a center for the emerging rave and later electronic music.

In 1990 she had her only No.1 hit single ( in the UK), they relate to the England football internationals Peter Beardsley, John Barnes, Paul Gascoigne, Steve McMahon, Chris Waddle and Des Walker under the name " Englandneworder " for the World Cup, the piece produced World in Motion.

In the nineties there was a regular album (Republic) and some compilations of singles and remixes.

The members of the band dedicated themselves in the following years increased their side projects. So Bernard Sumner played with Johnny Marr in Electronic, Peter Hook at first and later Revenge Monaco and Stephen Morris / Gillian Gilbert were formed under the name of The Other Two.

In 2001, the band with the much-acclaimed studio album Get Ready and the hit single Crystal was back on comparatively Rock style. In April 2005, the band from Manchester garnered with the album Waiting for the Sirens ' Call worldwide critical acclaim on: The Süddeutsche Zeitung ruled: " [ ... ] and it is now clear that there is still no better than the young band are here. [ ... ] Touched by your presence, gentlemen! "; the Independent magazine wrote: "Their best album for 15 years". From New Musical Express they received for their life's work " Godlike Genius " award.

On 4 May 2007 Peter Hook was in a phone interview the dissolution of the band known when he stated that he and singer / guitarist Bernard Sumner were no longer working together. This was first partially included in disbelief because Hooks slightly ironic tone, he confirmed the band resolution in the aftermath several times in posts on his MySpace page. After some semi- official statements gave on 20 July 2007 officially announced that New Order have not resolved singer Bernard Sumner and drummer Stephen Morris. It was disappointed that Hook had announced the separation, without having the other band members previously contacted, however, conclude that Hook is not a member of the band would be more. Regardless, however, exist on New Order. Whether there are further in the near future further plans for the band, was not disclosed. Sumner and Cunningham make since 2007 under the name Bad Lieutenant - based on the eponymous film - on. On October 12, 2009, world debut, Never Cry Another Tear published.

In June 2011, published by Warner Music with total a best-of compilation which is to trace the transition from Joy Division to New Order. The album also contains remixes of the most famous title, the previously unreleased New Order Hellbent piece from the year 2005.

On December 10, 2011, a concert of the newly formed band (without Peter Hook) was held in London. Since then, New Order have completed a successful world tour in 2012 as well as several acclaimed single concerts in 2013. In the spring of 2013 Lost Sirens appeared beyond a long previously announced compilation of outtakes from the era of recording sessions for Waiting for the Sirens ' Call. On all songs Peter Hook can be heard on bass. The band also an early transition into the studio announced during the summer concerts, 2013, to work on a regular successor of " Waiting for the Sirens ' Call".
