New Zealand women's national football team

The New Zealand national football team of women represented New Zealand in international women's football. The national reports to the New Zealand Football Association and has been trained to September 2011 by John Herdman. Successor was Tony Readings, who was assistant coach under Herdman.

In 1975, the New Zealand Women's Soccer Association was founded as a merger of Regional Associations of Auckland and Canterbury. The Association of Wellington, who at that time had severe disagreements with the union of Auckland, was provisionally accepted as an associate member. Swaps are the first two letters obtained " Swanz " (swans ). The New Zealand Association wants the choice to be known under the name " New Zealand women's national squad". This term has, however, not enforced. On the Association's website, they are presented as " Football Ferns ".

In the official FIFA rankings, the Kiwis commute between sites 16 and 24; currently they are ranked 16th, the best ever placement (13 December 2013).

New Zealand took part in three World Cup finals, the first round was never survived. At the Olympic Games in 2012 New Zealand met in the group stage to Brazil (0-1) and for the first time to the UK (0-1) and Cameroon ( 3-1 ) and was able to qualify for the first time at an intercontinental tournament for the knockout stages, in the New Zealand hit the USA and lost 0-2.
