Newin Chidchob
Newin Chidchob ( Thai: เน วิน ชิด ชอบ, RTGS: Chitchop, pronunciation: [ ne ː win t͡ɕ ítt͡ɕ ʰ ʰ ɔ ː p]; born October 4, 1958 in Buriram ) is a Thai politician. He was an important representative of the Thai Rak Thai Party of Thaksin Shinawatra and 2005-2006 Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister. After the fall of Thaksin and the dissolution of TRT Newin was charged with a five-year exclusion from political office, yet he continues significant influence on Thai politics. In 2008 he founded the related MPs Bhumjaithai Party, whose de facto leader is Newin. He is regarded as a political puppet masters of country-wide influence.
Life and work
Newins home province of Buriram is located in the south of the Isan region, on the border with Cambodia. His family is from the Khmer people. Newins male ancestors were elephant driver ( mahout ). His father, Chai Chidchob was community leaders ( kamnan ) and later a politician. Newin Chidchob got its name after Ne Win, the former rulers of Burma.
Newin followed his father Chai, who gave himself as a community leader and owner of Stone Mills relatively large influence in the home province and was elected in 1969 in every election back to Parliament in the policy. Chai and Newin led a group of deputies from Buriram, the newly decided from election to election time and again, for which party they competed. Newin has been repeatedly accused of vote buying. In 1988 he was first elected to Parliament for the United Democratic Party. In March 1992 he moved to Samakkhi - Tham Party, in September of the same year for Chart Thai Party. When they won the election in 1995, Newin was deputy finance minister in the cabinet of Banharn Silpa - archa. 1996 Newin was involved in the scandal surrounding the Bangkok Bank of Commerce, which had generously funded before its collapse due to excessively risky and sometimes fraudulent transactions, the Chart Thai Party and its politicians, including Newin. The government is broke, and Newin moved with his group ( as of 1996 was also his wife Karuna MPs) for solidarity party. From 1997 to 2001 Newin was Deputy Minister of Agriculture in the government of Chuan Leekpai. 2001 Newins group returned back to the Chart Thai Party.
The new Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra made Newin in March 2002 as Deputy Minister of Trade in the government reshuffle in October of the same year again as Deputy Minister of Agriculture. 2004 ran Newin and his group to Thaksin's Thai Rak Thai Party on. Within the TRT, which was composed of several inner-party wings, Newin led the so-called " Buriram group ". After the 2005 election, he retained the office of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, in August but he was Minister in the Prime Minister's Office. The government was overthrown by a military coup in September 2006. The Thai Rak Thai party was dissolved in 2007 by a decision of the Constitutional Tribunal of election law violations, their leading members, including Newin excluded for five years of political office. Most of their members, including the " Group of Friends Newins " ( klum Phüan Newin ), but formed up as the party of people's power (PPP ) again.
Newin was regarded as the main strategist Thaksin and as a key figure in the PPP. The party won the election in September 2007 and Newins father was President of the Parliament. In December 2008, the Constitutional Court as well as the PPP dissolved. The "Group of Friends Newins " joined on this occasion the sides. Do not joined the supported Thaksin PPP successor Pheu Thai Party on, but formed the Bhumjaithai Party, which entered into a coalition with the previously opposition Democratic Party and its chairman Abhisit Vejjajiva helped into office of the Prime Minister. The reason for this was probably cash payments which should have Newin negotiated with the Democratic leadership or the military top brass at General Anupong Paochinda. In Abhisit's government Bhumjaithai Party presented three ministers and four deputy ministers.
2009 bought Newin Chidchob the Thai Premier League football club FC PEA, moved him from Ayutthaya by Buriram and renamed it in Buriram PEA FC and later in Buriram United. He is the club since been serving as the president. Under Newins auspices of the club won in 2011 and 2013, the Thai Championship, also in 2011, 2012 and 2013, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Newin is a close confidant of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha (formerly Raksriaksorn ), the owner of Duty Free King Power chain and one of the richest Thais ( according to Forbes in 2013 1.6 billion U.S. $). King Power is also a major sponsor of Newins club Buriram United.
