Nick Ceroli

Nick Ceroli ( born December 22, 1939 in Warren ( Ohio); † August 11, 1985 in Los Angeles ) was an American jazz and studio drummer.

Ceroli played during his high school years in the All State Orchestra in Columbus and received a scholarship to study at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. 1958/59 he went with Ralph Marte Ries on tour. He then worked at Ray Anthony (1960 /61). He then moved to Los Angeles to work in the local studios; next he played in the bands of Gerald Wilson, Stan Kenton (1965 ), Benny Goodman and Les Brown. In 1963, he was a studio musician for Ann Richards. In 1966 he became a member of Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, until the group disbanded in 1969. For Alpert, he composed Windsong, which was also covered by Wes Montgomery.

In the early 1970s he worked in the Merv Griffin Show and The Tonight Show. Then he founded a record production company, in which several singles and an album appeared, and was a sideman for artists such as Peggy Lee, Jack Jones, Steve Lawrence, Vikki Carr, Irene Kral, David Allen, Joe Williams and Julie Andrews. Ceroli can be heard also when shooting Zoot Sims / Al Cohn, Bob Florence (Concerts By The Sea, 1979), Mundell Lowe, Jack Sheldon, Don Menza, Alan Broadbent, Bill Holman, Ross Tompkins, Ray Brown, Milt Jackson, Pete Christlieb / Warne Marsh ( Apogee 1978), Bill Berry, Richie Kamuca and Cleo Laine / Dudley Moore ( Smilin ' Through). He taught at the Dick Grove Music School.
