Nikolay Karakulov

Nikolai Sacharowitsch Karakulow (Russian Николай Захарович Каракулов, English transcription Nikolay Karakulov; . * April 10, 1918 in Perm, † 10 March 1988) is a former Soviet athlete. He was the best sprinter in the Soviet 1940s. At a height of 1.75 m his competition weight was 70 kg.

Career

After 1941 and 1942, the Soviet Athletics Championships were canceled because of the war, they were held again in 1943. Nikolai Karakulow won the title in both the 100 - meter dash and the 200 meter run. About 100 meters he could win this title until 1949, seven times in a row, except it only reached Valery Borzov seven titles over this distance. About 200 meters won Karakulow 1943, 1944, and 1946 to 1949, except it only won Robert Ljulko and Valery Borzov six titles over 200 meters.

The European Athletics Championships 1946 in Oslo for the first time took part Soviet athletes. Karakulow difference of more than 100 meters in the intermediate run.
