Nils Lavik

Nils Lavik Andresson ( born January 8, 1884 in Hosanger, Hordaland, † July 14, 1966 ) was a Norwegian politician Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF ), who was among other things, more than twenty years a Member of the Storting and thirteen years chairman of the KrF.

Life

Professional activities and church commitment

Lavik, a farmer's son, attended by the youth school ( Ungdomsskule ) in Framnes 1902-1903 the folk high school ( Folkehøgskule ) in Voss. He then worked 1904-1914 as a servant on various farms in Eksingedalen. In addition, he was active as editor of the youth magazine of the Bible school in Bergen and was from 1908 to 1919 in the winter months, representatives of the Association for the Inner Mission in Vestlandet (Det Vestlandske Indremisjonsforbund ).

In 1915 he became a teacher himself at the Bible school in Bergen next 1920-1922 teachers in Eksingedalen. He was also a 1919-1926 Chairman of the Youth School in Nordhordland. Lavik also was 1920-1955 Board member of Det Vestlandske Indremisjonsforbund and 1922-1927 Secretary of the Board. Between 1923 and 1930, and again from 1932 to 1941 was editor of the newspaper Lavik Sambaandet and at the same time from 1926 to 1933 Rector of the Bible School of Bergen. In 1932 he became Chairman of Det Vestlandske Indremisjonsforbund and held that post until 1950.

Deputy in the Storting and chairman of the KrF

Originally belonged to the liberal Venstre Lavik, and was for this 1931-1933 deputy member of the Storting. When the attempt failed, Lavik set up as a candidate of the liberal Venstre party in the constituency Hordaland, Ingebrigt Bjørø called in Bergen for the September 4, 1933 establishing the KrF. In the parliamentary elections on October 16, 1933 Nils Lavik received over 10,000 votes and became the first deputy of his party in the Storting. There he took twenty years to 1953, long the constituency Hordaland.

1938 Lavik successor Ingebrigt Bjørø as chairman of the Kristelig Folkeparti, and retained this position until his replacement by Erling Wikborg in 1951. Between December 1945 and January 1954 he was also Chairman of the Group of KrF in the Storting.

During his long parliamentary membership, he was also from December 1945 to January 1950 Vice-Chairman of the Committee for churches and schools ( Kirke -og skolekomité ). In addition, he was for a time a member of the Stortingausschüsse for elections ( Valgkomité ) and the Foreign and Constitutional Affairs ( Utenriks -og konstitusjonskomité ). He was also a member of the delegation to the Nordic Council for some time.

After retiring from the Storting, he was in 1953 member of the management of the branch of the Norwegian central bank, Norges Bank, in mountains and remained in this position until 1956. Moreover, he was from 1955 to 1961 as President and CEO Frekhaug Metallstøperi A / S.

For his political and social achievements Lavik 1964 awarded the Knight's Cross, First Class of the St. Olav's Order.
